Don't Panic Handbook
Because when your child is sick or hurt, you need to know what to do. A fever in the middle of the night. A fall from the playground. A sudden rash. Vomiting, coughing, a cut, a burn—or simply a child who just doesn’t seem right.
In those moments, it can be hard to know: Should I worry? What should I do at home?
When should I call the doctor? When is it truly an emergency?
I created the Don’t Panic Booklet after nearly 30 years as a solo pediatrician, caring for
children and answering the questions parents ask me every single day. Think of it as having Dr. Roma’s practical pediatric guidance at your fingertips when you
need a calm, trusted place to begin.
Inside, I share the simple steps I have taught generations of families for handling many of
childhood’s most common illnesses, injuries, and unexpected moments—along with the
important warning signs that mean it’s time to seek medical care.
My goal is simple: to replace panic with knowledge, confidence, and a plan.
Keep it in your home. Pack it when you travel. Give it to grandparents, babysitters, or
anyone who cares for your child.
Because childhood comes with plenty of unexpected moments. You don’t have to panic. You just need to know what to do next.
With love,
Dr. Roma Franzia, MD, FAAP
