Meet Dr. Roma

A wall of butterflies greets you at the ground-floor entrance, an elevator filled with children’s art whisks you to the second floor and, when the door opens, an airy and charming environment awaits. This is a doctor’s office unlike any other. Dr. Roma Franzia created this joyful space to celebrate her love for children. The mother of two girls, she has devoted her life to caring for her patients, from newborns to young adults, on an individual and personalized basis.

“As a solo practitioner, I consider myself an old-fashioned doctor,” says Dr. Roma Franzia. “Unlike other pediatricians, who share a practice and their patients, I know my patients’ stories and I am available to them on a 24/7 basis.”

The journey to her current medical home in Winnetka, Illinois started at the University of Southern California and, then the University of New York at Stony Brook, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science. Ross Medical School in the West Indies was next for medical school academic studies followed by medical school clinical rotations work in New York City’s Jamaica Hospital and Chicago’s Cook County Hospital. The day after she finished her pediatric residency at Christ Hospital and Hope’s Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, she opened her own pediatric practice in what she calls “the enchanting Village of Winnetka.”

Opening in 1999 “with zero patients”, today, Dr. Roma Franzia cares for over 1,000 children and 500 families of the North Shore.

The appreciation from the families is evident in Dr. Roma’s office which is filled with pictures of babies, children, and families. They inspire her to continue to practice medicine the way it used to be, with round-the-clock, personalized attention. They also motivate her to dream of new ways to provide individualized care to current and new patients, who are always welcome at Dr. Franzia’s medical home.

Dr. Roma Franzia has a State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License and is a board certified  Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Roma Franzia is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and supports the American Medical Association, the National Association of Doctors, the Illinois State Medical Association, and the Chicago Medical Society.
